Brothers in Dance Nominated for Best Arts Programme

We are thrilled that Brothers in Dance, the BBC Documentary following our co-Artistic Directors has been nominated for Best Arts Programme at the Celtic Media Festival. The film, commissioned by BBC Wales followed Anthony and Kel as they approached their first main-house commission for Sadler's Wells, one of Europe's most highly-regarded dance houses.

“It is a very special film – thanks to the extraordinary Matsena family and the talent of Kel and Anthony," said Christina Macaulay, Commissioning Editor at BBC Cymru Wales. It’s important to have a film from Wales showcased in this international festival that reflects on issues such as racism and the murder of George Floyd, but is also a joyful celebration of dance and life. Huge thanks to the Matsena brothers and also to BBC4 and the Arts Council of Wales for joining with BBC Cymru Wales to support the film. Finally, credit to Dave Jones of BBC Studios who not only produced and directed the film but also shot and edited it."

The 44th Celtic Media Festival will take place in Dungloe from the 6th-8th of June 2023 and we will eagerly await the outcome. You can check out the festival’s past winners: www.celticmediafestival.co.uk/winners and if you haven't seen it already, catch the documentary on BBC iPlayer here.
